【摘要】:Thisdocumentspecifiestheapplicationofthetime-of-flightdiffraction(TOFD)techniqueforthesemi-,orfully-automatedultrasonictestingoffusionweldedjointsinmetallicmaterialsequaltoandabove6mmthickness.Itisprimarilyintendedforuseonfullpenetrationweldedjointsofsimplegeometryinplates,pipes,andvessels,whereboththeweldandparentmaterialarelowalloyedcarbonsteel.Wherespecifiedandappropriate,TOFDmayalsobeusedonothertypesofmaterialsthatexhibitlowultrasonicattenuation(especiallythatduetoscatter).Wherematerialdependentultrasonicparametersarespecifiedinthisdocument,theyarebasedonsteelshavingasoundvelocityof(5920±50)m/sforlongitudinalwaves,and(3255±30)m/sfortransversewaves.Thishastobetakenintoaccountwhenexaminingmaterialswithadifferentvelocity.Thisdocumentmakesreferencetothebasicpre-standardENV583-6andprovidesguidanceonthespecificcapabilitiesandlimitationsofTOFDforthedetection,location,sizingandcharacterisationofdiscontinuitiesinfusionweldedjoints.TOFDmaybeusedasastand-alonemethodorincombinationwithotherNDTmethodsortechniques,bothformanufacturinginspection(pre-service)andforin-serviceinspection.Thisdocumentspecifiesfourexaminationlevels(A,B,C,D)correspondingtoanincreasinglevelofinspectionreliability.Guidanceontheselectionofexaminationlevelsisprovided.Thisdocumentpermitsassessmentofindicationsforacceptancepurposes.Thisassessmentisbasedontheevaluationoftransmitted,reflectedanddiffractedultrasonicsignalswithinageneratedTOFDimage.Thisdocumentdoesnotincludeacceptancelevelsfordiscontinuities.
