Scope:This SAE Aerospace Recommended Practice (ARP) is intended as a guide toward standard practice. Pending such standardization, its use in the present format as a basis for legal regulation is not recommended. This ARP describes the methods to be used in measuring those performance characteristics important for color and luminance use in direct view airborne electronic display systems.

【摘要】:ThisStandardcoversknurlingtoolswithstandardizeddiametralpitchesandincludesdimensionalrelationswithstockintheproductionofstraight,diagonal,anddiamondknurlingoncylindricalsurfaceshavingteethofuniformpitchparalleltotheaxisofthecylinderoratahelixanglenotexceeding45deg.withaxisofwork.Suchknurlingismadebydisplacementofthematerialonthesurfacewhenrotatedunderpressureagainstaknurlingtool.Thesetoolsandrecommendationsareequallyapplicabletogeneralpurposeandprecisionknurling.Inbrief,theadvantageofthismethodistheprovisionbywhichgoodtracking(theabilityofteethtomeshasthetoolpenetratestheworkblankinsuccessiverevolutions)isobtainedbytoolsdesignedonthebasisofdiametralpitchinsteadoftpi(teethperinch)whenusedwithrecommendedworkblankdiametersthataremultiplesof1/64or1/32in.,dependinguponthepitchselected.Thisshouldimprovetheuniformityandappearanceofknurling,eliminatethecostlytrialanderrormethods,reducethefailureofknurlingtoolsandproductionofdefectivework,aswellasdecreasethenumberoftoolsrequired.
